NEW YORK TIMES

CREATIVE: Alex Valentina

CLIENT: New York Times
ROLE: 3D Animation

Alex Valentina weaves luminous animations into literary reverie, creating sequences that dance alongside poet Safiya Sinclair's meditative prose for The New York Times.' Working with Sinclair's vivid writing about birdcatcher spiders in Jamaica, Valentina used cellular animation and hand-drawn techniques to create web sequences that shimmer and pulse like the "golden fibers" and "neon-embroidered dark stars" described in the piece.

The animations roll out alongside the text, creating an immersive reading experience that transforms a literary meditation into something viewers can actually watch unfold, reaching The Times' cultural readership with work that bridges animation artistry and storytelling.
