Subholland brings the sculptural process of renowned artist Chakaia Booker to life through hand-crafted animation for the National Gallery of Art. Created for Booker's exhibition "In the Tower: Chakaia Booker: Treading New Ground," her first solo showcase in Washington D.C. in a decade, the animation traces how thousands of pounds of salvaged rubber tires become monumental abstract sculpture, capturing the curled bands, jagged shards, and coiled loops that define her work.

Holland's frame-by-frame approach mirrors Booker's own hands-on transformation of industrial waste, honoring the tactile intensity of a practice that turns discarded material into striking new forms. The piece celebrates human craft at every level: no AI, no shortcuts, just process made visible. It is a seamless fusion of animation and fine art that extends museum storytelling into motion.
