MEET THE ARTIST: SHALINDER MATHARU - Quick Questions with H+

The H+ fam keeps growing!! Enjoy this introductory Q+A with designer and visual artist SHALINDER MATHARU, another member of our extended network of creative rockstars.

H+: What is your favorite color palette at the moment?

SHAL: I usually go for saturated, bright colours, but lately I've been experimenting with a more muted palette. Kind of what you see in those classic retro-futurism illustrations.

H+: Are your abstract forms drawn from real-life objects or are they imaginary?

SHAL: It's usually a mix of both. I have a library of inspiration that I'll refer to when creating an object. Using that inspiration and experimenting with new or old techniques will usually get the results I'm aiming for.

H+: You write of your work as trying to find solutions - what are the problems you are attempting to solve?

SHAL: In my personal work, it's my own goals that are the problem I'm trying to solve. Furthering my skills by trying new things and hoping to evoke some sort of reaction with my work. Those are 2 main things I think about as I create. Oh, and also having fun - because what's the point if you don't love it.
