We are thrilled to be representing the talents of Miami-based animator YONSON on our extended artist roster! Get to know a little more about him with the H+ Artist Q&A below:
H+: Describe your aesthetic in one sentence:
Y: I like to describe my work as a vibrant expression of human experience.
H+: What is your background and how did you get into creating digital artwork?
Y: I started creating digital artwork roughly spring of 2018. I was primarily in photography/videography and wanted to enhance my editing skills. That is when I discovered Cinema 4D and the rest is history.
H+: What things or subjects inspire your work?
Y: I derive my inspiration from my day to day life. What I experience and what I feel is how I create the ideas behind my work.
H+: Who are your influences?
Y: Some of my influences are Jonathan Zawada, Baugasm, and Erwan Frotin. Their work is phenomenal!
H+: Who would your dream project be with?
Y: My dream project would to do a clothing collab with Obey or Adidas Skateboarding. I am really excited to work in the music and fashion industries, I feel my work can blend nicely in these industries.
H+: What is your favorite program(s) to use for creating your work? Why?
Y: My favorite programs are Cinema 4D, Photoshop, and Quixel Mixer. Quixel Mixer is a new software where I can create custom textures based off 3D scans.
H+: What is your favorite thing about Miami and are you originally from there?
Y: My favorite thing about Miami is the lively culture and the year round warm weather. I've been living here for 8 years now but use to live on the west coast.
H+: Besides creating art, how do you spend your time?
Y: Besides 3D art, underwater photography is another passion of mine. I love to be free diving or at the beach!
H+: What are you currently listening to or what music do you listen to while you are working?
Y: My music preference changes all the time. Right now I've been listening to Tame Impala, Beach House, and Rufus Du Sol. I like mellow tunes when I'm working.
